"I’ve used Manfrotto tripods and lightstands right from when I first started in professional photography and they’ve never let me down.
Using a beautifully engineered piece of kit like a well-made carbon tripod is a joy. Every time I use one of my Manfotto or Gitzo tripods, they work flawlessly and are light, portable and hold the camera steady.
There is never one perfect tripod for every job and perhaps that’s why I seem to have amassed so many over the years! Large aluminium tripods for studio use, tiny carbon fiber ones for travelling light, beefy 5-series carbon Gitzo ones for heavy cameras like my medium format, Neotec for speedy use and everything in between! And now I’m moving into video, it’s Manfrotto tripods and fluid heads that are making the difference there, too.
But perhaps my most used Manfrotto items are the light stands. I use the medium stacker stands when using lights like Elinchrom Rangers. The Avengers come into use in the stuidio, especially the ones you can convert into booms.
But for ultimate portability you can’t beat the old 001B Nano stands which are ideal for Strobist-style off-camera flash use. They go really high and fold down really small. Perfection!"
