Karen Thomas is a food and still life photographer based in London. She is known for the welcoming atmosphere of her big and beautiful loft studios in East London.
Karen grew up in Billericay, Essex and at the age of eighteen, went to study photography at Nottingham Trent University. In 1995 she moved to London and spent around four years assisting photographers before breaking out on her own.
Karen has been shooting for fourteen years. From editorial to advertising, she has worked with some of the biggest names in the food industry.
Karen uses Manfrotto supports, tripod, lighting stands and grip for all her shoots. “The one thing I cannot do without are my Manfrotto friction arms. I have around ten of them and there are always at least four of them in use at one time!”
Her work has appeared in Simply Baking, The Great British Vegetable Book, Food of The Grand Trunk Road, and Freeze Easy.
Karen enjoys shooting a wide range of work from editorial to advertising. She’s mainly studio based but loves getting out on location, especially getting those special shots while on her travels.
