Peter Summers currently works for Newsteam/SWNS as Press Photographer based in the Birmingham, England. He swapped his home in Elgin, Scotland in September 2012 to study an NCTJ press photography course at Up to Speed. In his own words, Peter has been “taking photos for the last four years and doing it seriously for the past two”. He was employed as a photographer by Birmingham-based press agency News Team in July 2013, four days before his 18th birthday, and has already had his pictures published in every national newspaper in Britain. Prior to this, he completed work experience placements at the South Wales Evening Post, The Times and Getty Images.
As a press photographer, contracted to South West News Service and working for their Birmingham operations at Newsteam International, his favorite camera/lens combo is a Nikon D700 and 50mm f1.4.
Shortlisted for the NME Professional music photographer of the year 2013, he has had his photos published in every national paper in the UK. He's had Times picture of the day and his pictures can regularly be seen in the nationals. His favorite quote is probably the most clichéd quote ever – “If your pictures aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough” – Robert Capa. A fan of Nikon D300s, D700, Nikon 17-55, Nikon 28mm 1.8, Nikon 50mm 1.4, Nikon 70-200 f2.8, Nikon 300mm f2.8, and Nikon flashguns, he enjoys sport photography the most. Sadly, there aren't too many sport commissions with his job but it is how he got in to photography. Extreme sports such as mountain biking are probably his favorite. He also enjoys doing portraits.
